Cole Summers Fellowship
The Cole Summers Fellowship is a four-month writing intensive program for teenagers pursuing alternative modes of education.
The fellowship nurtures talented teenagers from unconventional educational backgrounds, including homeschooling, microschooling, virtual schooling, and apprenticeships. Building on the success of our 2024 pilot, the program combines:
- Weekly lectures from liberty-minded professionals
- Practical communication skills development
- Exploration of educational theory and reform
- Personalized projects aligned with Fellows’ interests

2026 Fellows
Liv B.
Liv is a 14-year-old homeschooler from Maryland. Liv is deeply inspired by the work of literary masters like Maya Angelou. Homeschooling allowed her to dive into storytelling and get interested in writing and sharing stories. In the future, Liv hopes to become a New York Times-bestselling author and continue her writing to make a difference. In her spare time, Liv loves participating in environmental advocacy.
Sophia P.
Sophia is a 16-year-old homeschooler from Massachusetts who is a passionate writer, currently working on a mystery novel with a friend. Sophia is deeply inspired by FEE’s mission to educate current and future generations about the principles of free-market economics, and enjoys creating content and writing about her passions.
Tinlee H.
Tinlee is a 16-year-old from Arizona, attending Baker Creek Academy. She has interests in entrepreneurship, economics, and leadership, and looks forward to being a leader in the liberty movement. She enjoys working in the agriculture and farming sector, writing about and educating others about rural life in Arizona.
2025 Fellows
Sabre W.
Sabre was born and raised in Alaska and has been homeschooled all her life. At 16, she enjoys sports like hockey and the Native Youth Olympics. Sabre is an avid reader who is especially fascinated with fantasy genres. She loves math and has a deep interest in art, especially drawing in the manga/anime styles. Sabre is also an aspiring author and hopes to utilize the skills learned from the fellowship to improve her writing skills.
Amaressa B.
Amaressa is 14 years old and lives in Idaho. She has had a number of work experiences she credits as being instrumental in her growth and learning, from restaurant hostess to working in the watersport-renting business. Her main goals in life are to write and publish fantasy books for teens and young adults and become a Jiu-Jitsu instructor.
Klára S.
Klára is 17 years old and lives in Illinois. She attends a Sudbury-model school called Tallgrass Sudbury School, where she has been actively involved in her school’s clubs and classes, as well as in her local community. She is currently on the marketing committee for her school, helping to make posts on her school’s Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok pages. Klára is an avid volunteer for after-school activities like open houses and fundraisers, and helps to tutor younger students. She is deeply passionate about art, acting/film, writing, and law, and she hopes to further her knowledge and skills through this program.
Brooklyn G.
Brooklyn is 14 years old and presently lives in Montana. She has been a part of Synthesis, an online unconventional education community that came out of SpaceX, for around a year now. She is an avid violinist who has been playing for almost 10 years, and she’s currently performing on her church’s worship team. Brooklyn loves writing and hopes to more thoroughly develop her skills during this fellowship to hopefully become a published author in the near future.
